Help for GIVI wingrack

Post by persempre907 »

Hi everybody,
I have bought on ebay a used GIVI wingrack for 2 side panniers for my 907.
But I don't know how to mount it and if they are all parts for fitting.
Someone can tell me how do :screwy:?
Many thanks.

The only time I've seen anything about these was in one of the first 907 reviews in a US magazine. The one detail I remember was they had to drill a hole in the sidepanel to make them work.

Maybe yours are different? Hope so, I wouldn't be drilling holes in my bike's bodywork...

The review may be posted here, I think it was in Cycle or Motorcyclist back in early '91.

I'm not positive it was GIVI, but I'm pretty sure. I just checked here and the only 907 review in the downloads section is from Motorcyclist. That isn't the one I was thinking of, so it must have been Cycle, or maybe Cycle World. Or even Rider?

I have it around somewhere, but it's in with literally hundreds of other magazines. If I have time today I'll try to find it. If/when I do find it, I can scan it to add to the download section here.

The good news is, I found the article. it was in the December 1991 issue of "Rider" magazine.

The BETTER news is, it was a Krauser bag that they were using, not Givi. So, nevermind - I obviously don't have a clue when it comes to givi bags!

I found a couple other artilces on the 907 too, I'll scan them when I have time.

This does raise a good question, I use my 907 for touring and am getting tired of tank bags and rucksacks. Some decent panniers might be the answer? Any ideas and yes I'd have them sprayed the correct colour (red) too....

I have Krauser boxes to my 907 and original mounting shedule shows to make hole to rear part of side fairing, but no need to do it, cause Krauser bag holders are enough hard stuff to carry load without that hole and bolt to frame! Only need to change bigger bolts/screws to rear holder of system, if carry too many alcohol bottles in side bags :D
