Just a thought, but are you certain you need a starter? I thought I needed a starter for my '92 900ss, but then, in a fit of reason, I put a screwdriver across my solenoid, jumping everthing out except the battery and starter itself, and it spun up like new.

Turns out the little plug from the starter button to the solenoid had some PKP in it; you know, the stuff from a dry chemical fire extinguisher? I cleaned the contacts, bent them in so they were a tight fit in the solenoid, and presto! Good as new.

7 years later, and I'm still finding damage from that fire!

Oh, and by the way, I liked being a "Pasochist" rather than a "Certified Paso Freak"... Seems more appropriate, somehow
The $900 Paso: DellOrto's, Dyna 5 ohm coils, Ignitech TCIP4; finally, a new set of tires! Goldentyre GT070/071

The bike is gone, but the nightmares continue...

or the brushes/choal contacts are worn. At least that was the case on mine once when the starter broke down. Luckily the windings inside were ok and the repair was cheap.
