How available are stock pipes?

Post by ronstew »

I am looking at an '88 Paso with a generic aftermarket exhaust. I would rather have stock pipes. Am I likely to be able to find some?

Not too sure if the originals are still available as new (they are crossed out in the parts manual - meaning no longer available?), but the Cobra F1s exhausts are still available....

Never know, there may be a member here who replaced their stockers, and still have the originals laying around and may let them go for a reasonable price. I have the F1s pipes on my wifes bike, and I'm going to take the decals off (they are starting to peel) and probably buff them out a bit. They are aluminum, so they should clean up quite nicely.

I searched to for a couple of years, but they're not available, neither original, nor in used parts fair... if you're lucky, someone is scraping a motorcicle just when you go asking him :umm: otherwise you need an aftermarket pipe
have a nice ride, Nicola

Mufflers only

Post by streetsurfer »

New member here - first post read and first reply.

I should have a set of stock mufflers that came in the crate with an 88 LTD. These are the smaller cored originals which were required to be included with the LTD so it could be imported to the US. The same muffler as stock on the standard Paso. I am the original owner of the bike and the mufflers were delivered to me with the bike. I am not clear if the headers were swapped also, but I only received the mufflers as takeoffs. They have not been used, the finish was still good last I saw them, and are presumebly still in my garage. I say that because I am not sure that I didn't toss them during a spring cleaning-I think I just need to locate them. I will check later today if you are interested.

Streetsurfer, I am trying to arrange financing. If it comes together, I will ask you to look for your stock exhaust. I'll know in a couple of days.

I live close to the US, so shipping would be very simple.

Stock pipes shouldn't be too difficult to find here in Italy - got me self a new pair of euro spec for my '87 - but do believe US spec are also available. A friend saw them down in bologna when looking for euro spec ones

Parts dealer 'Montagna' in veneto Italy have or may find parts of any kind - just can't find the number or adress. Darn

Used ones I've seen on bikes in italy were all heavely corroded - (difficult to find running Pasos in Italy and few mount stock pipes) even though they were stainless - been advised to drill a tiny hole at the extremity of the large 'cone' for humidity - oh yeah stock pipes do not come cheap

How available are stock pipes?

Post by spaynenda »

I have a set from my '88 750. They've been in a box in the garage ever since, so I'm not sure of the condition but will check if you're interested. Have no idea what they're worth, but let's start at $300 for the box, including header pipes.

At about 600 miles, I had ProItalia fit a complete system from one of the Limiteds. It's not street legal, and I didn't put on Limited heads with bigger valves, but the conversion worked. The Limited system looks the same, but the mufflers have a bigger outlet diameter, and it sounds great, yet not too loud.

As a result, I don't need the stock units--don't know why I keep stuff like that around, but hey, there you are.
Make it a good day,

You could see also the Termignoni exhausts which are also available, as you can see in their website.
