Hello all
Got my Paso 750 on the road after a five year rest - its got new tyres -original cans and new belts - oil and filter and all seems to go well - until gear box starts to yelp in 2nd and 3rd gear occasionally - had a mechanic test drive the bike but in traffic couldn't provoke this yelp or shriek - some say it may be the bearings......
the bike has aready had a gear box revision just some six thousand KM ago - second gear had crumbled under load -
If it now is some bearing seizing wouldn't it shriek in all gears? Or may it be some thing else? checked the cam belt tension and seem ok - seem loose enough and a allen 7mm key fits between belt and tensioner. Pitch of shriek changes note during down shift
Does any one have an alterative idea of what it may be? Before opening the motor is there some other thing to check?

qldman is thinking about the clutch dust that often we find into the clutch cover.
If so, you have only to remove it putting an air compressed jet while the clutch cover is opened.
But, I'm doubting about it because you say that it happens in 2th/3th gear, while it would happen above all in the first gear at the starts.
So let us know more things.

Do believe its not the clutch - opened it however coouldn't release the nuts to get disks out - removed some dust and applied some high temperature grease onto clutch piston - went for a ride - got the temperature up - accelearated hard and Yes still there and its coming from right side and down shifting the pitch once again changes to a higher note - this makes me believe its the gearbox - doesn't the clutch 'work' on crank shaft - the sound really does change pitch alot higher than engine pitch when down shifting....darn....opening the engine again wow that hurts - I know its difficult over the net to figure out or to get it test driven - thank you all - I'll take it to the mechanic (ex Cagiva talent)have it tested - see what he says
