Dual bulb headlight?

Post by Rlbol »

I recently saw one on Ebay. The item description said it would fit an paso/907. Does anyone know anything about this? It looked like the normal square head light but had 2 H4 bulbs?

THE US spec Yamaha FZ-750 (1987) used the same headlight casing but with dual headlights inside. Apparently they slot in no mods needed. This is something I plan doing after some brake upgrades. These were still available new from Yamaha approximately 12 months ago.

You should have the mesh on yours.

I stand corrected!

Are the Yamaha FZ 750 EU headlight different from the US spec? No matter, it would have work better than the OEM unit, I guess.

that kind of updates the look a little as well!!
i think that the headlight on the paso is the only thing on it that "dates' it as an older bike

probably best to go ahead and do the relay and power the light directly from the battery when putting in this new dual bulb assembly, correct?

anybody got a part number for this lens assembly etc...?

doug(who wants to find one of these, can ya tell)

There is ONE bigger problem with Dual H4 headlights: If You use both BULBS TOGETHER, then not enough current from charging system to battery!!!! I have seen this in my 907IE and after 65 kms drive, i have to ask one honda driver to push me with jump start, when i stopped to fuel my bike, so BOTH bulbs cant use same time. 2 X high beam, or 2 X low beam takes TOO MUCH to 907. I KNOW THAT.... Anyway "look" is much better now.... Btw, i put switch to handlebar to dissconnect another bulb and i use ONLY both bulbs , when REALLY NEED and short time then! That P7 ECU NEEDS enough voltage to function, like should. There is voltage "looking" wire and if voltage drops too low from battery, then ECU cuts off! I know, i know.....

Dual Headlamp conversion

Post by Shelboss »

This headlamp assembly is listed as P/N 1LJ-84303-A0-00 on this site and sells for $132.17 plus shipping, best price I've found new.

The models it fits are Yamaha 86 FZ750S, 87 FZ700T & TC, and 88 FZ750U, the R models are different. It comes from Japan and is currently back-ordered.

Dual Headlight

Post by Shelboss »

I just finished testing the power output of my alternator. I used a clamp-on current meter on the alternator wire just ahead of the 30 amp fuse. To test for potential output of the alternator, I ran the headlight without starting for about 10 minutes, then started the bike. Altenator output was 20.4 amps at 14.3 volts, or 292 watts. I imagine with a dead battery it might approach 350 watts as speced. I then let the battery charge up and ran it with the high beam at 3K rpm. It drew 186 watts. I believe there is 100-150 watts to spare on these bikes. The previous owner of my bike ran a heated vest and grips, which add up to 90 watts if constantly on. The wiring to the regulator and alternator have been beefed up and an aftermarket regulator put in, so proceed with caution when adding load, lest you'll be pushing it home

Dual Headlight power

Post by Shelboss »

The stock bulb for the dual headlights is listed as a 35/35 watt. Is anyone using it with the stock wattage?
