You will have to work enough also on the bodywork.
But, are you sure that you want also more than 100 hp on the Paso? Are you not satisfied by the 900SS engine?

actually i'm a little bit used to it to replace the engine of my paso.
the 900ss engine i've got now is the 3rd in 9 years.
because i can make a choice again between revising or replacing i rather choose replacing.
the 900ss engine will be sold and can instantly be assembled on a paso only!
about the looks of my bike :laugh: it's ok, for now.
i've been collecting spare parts for the last two years and have got everything that needs to be replaced. (complete fairing, 4 original mirrors, rear fork,new seat, rear wheel, new cockpit etc.)
this winter it will get a paintjob and it will be brand new :lick:
with or without 4 valve engine
don't ask me about the costs :screwy: it is just endless love for my paso
About 85-90HP with a little bit of headwork and ST2 cams. A real STUMP puller.
BTW my New Multi makes 89 on the dyno and is super smooth all the way to the redline AND doesn't get breathless at the redline either. The DS motor is very sweet and I'm thinking about 1078 over the winter.
My Multi is a 1000, so yes I'm talking about the new engine. If you haven't ridden one yet you should get to the dealer for a test ride ASAP. This motor is really nice. They make a piston and cylinder kit for the 1000cc DS to make it a 1078cc DS, which is what the new Multi 1100 will be.
With regard to the 944 (overbore 900SS motor), I don't own one but have ridden a few. Very nice torque and HP but not as smooth as the 1000DS

ST2 944cc engine(NOT TUNED!!!) gives 61kW / 83 HP at 8500 RPM, torque: 82Nm at 6500 RPM and i have in my hands now papers of my friends 1000 Multistarda(New Ducati Performance ECU with open mufflers) dyno papers: 93.1 HP at 7980 RPM. Torque: 99.1Nm at 4640 RPM(!!!!!!!!!) from rear wheel, what is VERY good torque soooo low RPM:s.... That 1000cc Multistarda gives very close same torque, what i can get from my ST4S, but 1800 RPM:s lower, than my ST4S!!! so, that 1000 Multistarda engine is very good one! I can get 24 HP more, than 1000 Multistrada, but need to use surely more RPM:s..... Dyno, is very intresting thing, what NEED TO DO, if want know EXACT power/torque of bike... Btw, those ST2 values were from "specs"(from clutch), not from rear wheel, what those dyno values were!!!!

ok, i've got to a conclusion after a few phonecalls and your replies .
assembling a 4 valve engine is just going to cost me so much and takes so much time that it is better to buy myself some st2 pistons and bore the cylinders a little bigger.
also a st2 camshaft and a dyno stage 2 kit.
does anybody know what more you can do on a 900ss engine?
(valves, special other pistons, cams etc. etc.)
this all together is a lot cheaper and will get me back on the road within a month or so.
U cant put ST heads(water cooleed) to air/oil cooleed 900 SS engine, but changing to ST2 cams You can go. Another possibility is to put big bore kit to 900SS engine, but that coast also quite a lot. I taught long time ago, that its not so simple to change engines to Ducatis, like Pasos, but 851/888 fits to 906 frame, its done, but allways main point is: How much that will coast to You! :laugh:

Flatslides will help add more power and so does a little bit of headwork like matching to ports and cleaning up the passages. I'm no expert on this but a buddy has had it done at BCM here in the USA and tells me it made a difference.
Higher compression pistons than the stock ST2 will also help. Pistal (Italian) makes 11:1 pistons that are works of art.
A lightened flywheel will not add HP but does let the motor spin up faster. I like this modification because it cheap and really wakes the motor up. I had my stock flywheel machined to about 1/2 the weight. The Nichols flywheel is really light at 12 ounces.
Does any one know of where I might find out some more information about that paso with the 888 motor? Or may be they know about it? What was involved with the install? do the motor have the same mounting points? I am curious what had to be done to install the 888 or 851 motor whichever it may have been.
I think, You can get that light flywheel much cheaper machined from Your currently flywheel, like i did. I take it out and take it to one very good "lathe company", whre they take about 1,2kgs away from it with lathe. Thya say, that no need to balance it, cause they take same amount off from it around it. I have used that light flywheel with also same amout out from weight from clutch side by using STM 48 teeth aluminium clutch. Its wise to take same amount of weight away from BOTH side of engine!!! I am VERY happy with such mods to my 907, but surely i have modified my engine much more... :lick:
