Has anyone tried installing clutch and brake master cylinders from a 916 or 996 on the Paso? Any clearance issues with fairing? Any improved clutch or brake feel?

Just thinking of maybe giving this a try.

When I get around to modifying my Paso....sometime after I get it running and on the street, I was planning on doing that conversion....along with 17" wheels, 320mm front brake, and front fork conversion. If there are clearance issues, I have the original master cylinders from my '98 ST2 laying around that I'll probably use, instead.

Hello from Shanghai, China! I just got back on the internet after 2 months coming across the Pacific! Going through some serious web withdrawal...

Does a 748 count? Yes, I put the master cyl's from my 1998 748 on the Paso, when I upgraded the brakes to 99> spec; they work great on the Paso! Damn did I hate those cheesy controls on the 80's Duc's; and the Paso I have was even worse, the previous owner put a Nissin brake cyl on it. That thing is inadequate even on my ysr50! Which is where it currently resides, until I buy another 98 Brembo for the YSR.

I like the feel of the brakes on the 99 996 better than the 98 models, but most of that is down to the revised caliper I think. I did also change the master cyl, just because it was easier that way. (didn't disconnect the brake lines).

OOPS! Just re-read, didn't mean to imply that the calipers from a 98 748 will fit a Paso, I doubt they will. I upgraded the brakes on my 748 by swapping both the forks and complete brake system from a 99> 996; I used the leftover master cyl's on the Paso. And they are great!

I made the entire converson to 17" rims and 320 brakes and calipers, including repair and install a master cylinder from a distroyed 996... it has the support broken, and a handmade part I machined to instal it.

I've fitted on my 907 the 999's master cylinder.
I've also put new rotors and new calipers with new pads.
Actually, I've rode less than 100 km. with it so I've finish the running in .
Any clearance problem, but I would expect more braking power.

francesco, you have original rubber pipeline or special aeroquip pipes? It's the largest part of braking character! :thumbup:
