Case Saver info

Post by jcslocum »

I have been sent some info from LT Snyder regarding a new case saver that he is having made. This is a discotinued piece by ducati. For those that have seen a broken case from thier chain breaking you know what this can prevent.

A case saver is a small metal piece that bolts on in front of the front sprocket to protect the aluminum housing.

Case Saver Status: I just approved the prototype for the case savers. They are being manufactured next week and then get plated. I'm taking preorders beginning 20 April for them. The initial batch is merely to gauge interest. Tell your friends... Cost will be $22, which is below what Ducati was charging ($29) before they discontinued them. Theirs weren't plated either. :-)

For more info, contact: LT at LT@desmotimes.com

Jon - thanks for posting up about this. Sounds like a good idea to me - I'm interested, definitely. I just visited his site, but it turns out he's already hit his bandwidth allotment for the day (at 10:30am?!) So if you happen to converse via email or whatever, tell him he can count me in, too.

from the website
NOTE2: If you have a variant with the clutch slave cylinder mounted to the right side of the motor, my case savers will NOT work.
it does not fit on the P750. Is there another ?
If there was something like that original from Ducati, anyone have a part number ?

I have them on both my 907s for long time.
That case saver was sold by Ducati as a racing accessory.
Somewhere, even if discontinued by Ducati, the number of the part would pop up.
I'll try to search it.

Antti,

here`re pics of the case saver on a 750. As you see the lower mounting hole is where the bolt of the engine cover is and not where the the bolt of the sprocket cover is. Also the part is not deep enough to cover the engine case but only the cover.
I`ll make my own one.

Thanks, Gerhard  Seems, that next winter i will make some case savers for my bikes. I think, it needs some accurate measurements and suitable steel plate and it cant be "too difficult" job... Surely, if someone have measurements/drawing, then it is much easier...
