Electrics dead

Help anyone. was riding the old Paso 750, when the electrics just switched off. Rolled safely to one side of the road.

Nothing at all works: Lights, warning indicators, least of all starting. : Only the clock seems to be running. Have checked fuses they are all good.

Any suggestions?

Might be simple: start checking main connections. You might've jostled something right out of a socket.

If everything's tight and dry, double-check your fuses. Trust me on this: while chasing down a drake light issue w/ my Monster, I checked my fuses first - and they were fine, so I started going through the rest of the bike. I couldn't figure it out, I could not find the source of the problem. So I sat down next to the bike and began pouring beer on the problem - which was me, after all - because as I sat there with my suds, I was eye-to-eye with the fuse box. And sure enough, there was a blown fuse - the culprit.

So I'm not doubting your fuses; but go back and check 'em after you look at something else - just to be sure.

But seriously, if it happened that fast - my money is on a loose connection just come undone.

I think it is the ignition switch. Mine did that and I could get it running by playing with the key. If that is the case, you must repair it or replace it. It is very dangerous to ride with that condition. Good luck.

### Did the motor start backfiring at all before dying? Mine was working fine one minute, then the backfiring and it died. Turned out my regulator wire had come loose.

Well, all the other Duc's I've worked on have a 25 or 30 amp fuse somewhere on the wiring harness, not with the standard fusebox. Sometimes, like on the 900ss, it's a fusilbe link, in a plastic housing, not an actual fuse.

Unfortunately, I don't see anything in the service manual or microfiche to identify it, and my bike is 1,500 miles away from me right now. So I can't go look. But I'd bet that fuse exists on a Paso as well, and that's whats blown on your bike.

Does anyone know where that fuse or fusible link is located?

There is one between my regulator (I think that's it) and battery terminal. I blew the fuse in it and didn't think I was ever going to get back home.
