A question to Mr. Skins?

Post by pompone »

Hello Mr. Skins. How are you? I just have seen the film about the history of Burt Munro, and I like it very, very much. Because of it I'd like to know the opinion of another great Kiwi (you) about this brave man and this film. Thank you

Hola Pumper! I'm very well, thank you, but very busy with my work.

I'm sorry, I haven't seen the film yet, but now that you want my opinion of it, I will see it as soon as I can.

Burt Munro has been a hero for motorcyclists in New Zealand for at least as long as I have been riding, which is 40 years. They used to say he cast his pistons in holes in the ground. I don't know if they showed that in the film. I live in another part of the country from him - in the North Island. If I lived closer to him, I'd know more.

Motorcycling sure is big here in New Zealand. The only place I have seen as many bikes on the road - although I really haven't been to many places - was when I was living in Barcelona, Spain.

As a result of the 'Fastest Indian' movie, I'd say Burt is now the most famous motorcyclist in New Zealand.

I'll see the movie soon, and let you know what I think.

Hi everybody,
could you tell me what's the title of this movie?
I've heard nothing about it and I'm becoming curious...
Ciao

The film, with a marvellous Sir Anthony Hopkins, starts when Burt Munro makes his own pistons from a Ford and Chevy ones. Burt's life seems to be very intense and I'm sure is very difficult to resume it in a 120 minutes film. Maybe, the technical face of Burt's Indian could be more extended, too. But I have enjoyed very much watching this film and I think you'll like it too.

Barcelona is a good "motorcycle-city". Balearic Islands are very good too. Here the weather is soft, it rains little and the sun shines every day, in every season

The movie is called 'The World's Fastest Indian', Francesco. It's about a New Zealander who used an old Indian motorcycle, which were made in the US, to set speed records at Bonneville Salt Flats. He did it all on a low budget, using home-made parts.

If you type 'Burt Munro' into Google, you will get a lot of links about Burt and the movie. I checked the first link, and it looked good.
