- HELLO To ALL........ THIS IT IS THE PROBLEM.... It is that in of my exits it notices lack of power and the very unstable motor to relentín and with muchisima facility to stop itself. This frustrated a pile to me because in the traffic lights it was stopped continuously. In house I decided to clear the fairing and to see the compression of the cylinders, in the horizontal tapeworm 9 kilos and the vertical 2.5 kilos. This surprised much then two weeks to me back had done him a setting leaving its adjustments in its site, as much the valve opening as the one of closing. Everything cleared and covers of the open butts I verified the state of the settings, my surprise was that the adjustment of closing of the escape valve tapeworm an enormous comfort (0.30) when it is in (0,00 y0.02) In my case by fear of leaving it a (0.00), I left it in (0.05). As soon as there is the one of opening is possible to be said that some did not have setting, would say that was the stepped on valve. This I deduced because of the little compression. All this this very or and in certain way I was glad because I thought something of segments or guides of valves. Soon I verified vábula of admission and this was just as as it leaves it at his moment. Total that single tapeworm the problem the escape valve. I put hands to the work and I began to make its settings again, the one of opening it leaves it in 0,10 and the one of closing in 0,05. I returned to mount everything, I measured the compression and kilo gave a 8,9 measurement me of. That to me put single then happy had been a misalignment of the setting. That same afternoon I left to give to a return in her and all perfect one. But about my mind it was thought because of the misalignment if everything were correct. All this saying and nonpense fact but in the subject to if that like always all the week ends if the occasion allows it I leave to make a route, I like to sally a little long of 200 to 300 kilometers depends on the situation. My surprise is that Wednesday the day of the constitution I returned to leave with her, the day was not for much but the desire could but that the time. Everything was perfect moto responded like always maintaining the type in spite of its years. The problem went that when arriving at Cehegin wandering about to return to house I noticed symptoms such lack of power and instability of relentín. They began to come me to the mind another one to see the same of the last week. In house moto stopped all cold one I already began to disassemble the fairing and to see the compression again. Horizontal cylinder 9 kilos, vertical Cylinder 2 kilos. I returned to disassemble the covers of balance beams and to see that there is, another one see with the gauges and the clock comparator to see that there is Valve of admission just as previous mind, in its site. Valve of escape opening adjustment does not have, like before, would say. that been above. Adjustment of closing of valve 0,5..........una barbarism. All this then has worried to noncoat conclusion to me some of which it can be. The only thing that could happen that the seat of that valve this sinking. And this because. I explain myself. Years ago I broke the strap and that same butt was but damaged, they had to put seats and new guides to him. It can be that that seat now did not put until their base in the butt and this giving problems. This is single a supposition, until it does not disassemble butt I cannot discard things, but I doubt that this is, I do not imagine a seat of valve with catastrophic serious comfort. In aim companions..... I hope to have explained of a fehaciente form so that you become an idea of the situation. I am tired to think to disassemble and to mount. To see if somebody with muchisima experience illuminated the soul to me A GREETING To ALL....

Strangely, I actually understood that.
I can see where your compression would be lower due to the valves being out of spec and allowing the compressed air to escape. I was surprised to see by how much, though. Other than a softer seating material being installed when you had that head and valve worked on, I would not have any idea as to why the clearances would be so far out in such a sort amount of time.....unless the valve is faulty and stretching, but I doubt that.....
......or maybe the valve seat was not pressed completely into the head, and the valve is pushing it the rest of the way into the head. (For those who are not aware, the valve seats in the Paso are a separate component than the head. The seat is replacable for when you are doing a "valve job". It is not like some other engines where the seating location is actually a part of the head's casting - you can see the individual seats listed in the parts manual).
The only suggestion I can think of is to readjust the valves, again, and hope that the seats have finally settled, or take the head back off and have the seats redone. One of those mini cameras snaked into the cylinder through the spark plug hole may assist you with seeing the valve seat and understand what is going on in there, but.....I have no idea where you can rent one of those mini cameras, or where you'd go to have the engine scoped that way.
I wish you luck with it! Hopefully, one more adjustment will cure your issues.

I didnt undertood all, but anyway i want to ask one thing: angelick, Did You use enigine with high RPMs, before You started to check valve clearances??? I know well, that valves and and heads MUST be CLEAN from all shit before You start make valve measurements!!! If bike have used in city traffic with low rpms, then valves seat areas are full of shit and U can get tatally wrong measurements from clearances. It is VERY important job to use(clean) engine with high rpms enough long time, before U start to measure/adjust valve clearances, that valve areas are clean. I have heard this from those Ducati friends, who have played with these engines very many years. One guy asked from "customer", that whatkind driving U have made close times? Answer was, that only city traffic. Conclusion: "i really dont start to measure valves, BEFORE U go to motorway and drive Your 916 there 2 hours with high rpms"... Guys, now i am not joking, this was truth....

I'm going to check the valves' clearance and to change the belts.
So, I'll bring the bike in the motorway before to start the work...
2 hours? I'll come to Florence, I'll say hello to Nicola (Ducapaso) and then I'll come back to my home.
Antti,
I'm seeing for a 916 :lick: :lick: :lick: .
Ciao

Frankie, all depends, how much that shit U have in valve seat area! If U use 907 normally in city traffic, them maybe that 2 hours in higway with HIGH RPMS is not enough... But YOU(!!!) are in response, how dirty pieces You start to adjust... Heads MUST be clean, before start measuring valves and SURELY engine MUST be COLD, so better do measurements next day after "cleaning it"

As I told you, I'm riding very slowly.
Not too much city traffic, no matter always quite slow
.
But, I will try to go faster before to check the clearance's valves :ugh: :ugh: :ugh: .

Frankie dear, You live in country, where Ducatis have born and You drive "slowly"
Now U have 2 possibilities: U start to drive her VERY FASTLY with higher rpms in twisty roads, OR better maybe, that U change to some jap brand...
JUST YOU have to know, what is Ducati spirit and how to drive those marvelous bikes !!!! Start to think this way: Drive Your 907, as You drive Your wife !!!! Sorry, i mean Your girlfriend!!!! Thinking Your girlfriend, not wife, that can be easier to You... Ducatis need very hard acceleration and also surely nice taking care in garrage. That is ONLY way, U can get from her, what man need!

I've 2 problems with the bikes.
1) I've always loved the bikes and above all the Ducati, but because of too little money, I was able to buy my first bike (the Paso 906) too much late, when I started to work, only 10 years ago.
2) So, I have tried to ride fast, but the only outcome was that... I was all broken    .
So, I NEED have a bike, pamper it, make some little trip, but you don't ask me to drive fast.
Ciao
