No matter, I think that $. 199.00 would be a great bargain, but it's only the start price.

I selfishly bought the set they had up for buy it now at $199. Even tho they are 3 years old they are newer and have much more tread than my current tires.

Any idea how to find/read the date code on these tires? I bought a new set with stickers still on them from eBay ($195 BIN) a few months ago.....They were definitely better than the dry-rotted ones on my bike. :ugh:

there`s a DOT number on the tire.
It should be 4 digits i.e. 2403 which means that the tire was produced calenderweek 24 of the year 2003.
Tires with production date before 2000 had a 3 digit code.

The tires first went up as a bid only. I asked Motorace to put them up as a "Buy it now". Follow their link to their eBay store and you will find the "buy it now" for $199USD. Bought a set. Stored properly, three year old tires are just fine. Not to worry.

Here's a link for the Buy it Now site:

Antti, 3 year old tires are fine for the riding the Paso gets. I checked the tires age on the bike right now and they a re at least 6 years od and the rear is shot.

Grab a set while you can. If you're in Europe have them shipped to my house for free and I will reship to you. I'm coming to France in April and can carry a few sets as luggage and ship them from my office in Paris.

Tyres should be kept out of day light (sun light) It is the UV light that turns them blue. Blue tyres are old. with poor grip.
We used to keep race car tyres like this for racing on. For testing we did not as we used these just for testing and never raced on old blue colour tyres.

My old Paso tyres were blue till the new ones went last year, just looked and the DOT code puts them from 2005

I keep ALL my spare tires in my homes cellar, where temperature is about +14C hole year(made for wine restoring just now with about 247 bottles of wines+plenty off other stuff) and its totally dark place, like should and i "tested" that thing with my very sensitive finger and noticed, that my 2 year old 16" Michelin was much harder, than new one and date(from tire) difference was quite close 2 years, no matter older one was restored just, like tires should... (dark, enough cold, right moisture, etc....) ,so seems, that i have my opinion from this thing...

Also store away from electric motors such as air compressor, furnace blower, as they emit ozone which is harmful to rubber, if I understand it correctly.
