having to sell my baby

Post by Tigger »

Hi guys and gals

I wonder if anyone can be of help?

I find myself in the situation where I have to raise some cash and have to sell my '91 907.

She is of average condition and has done approximately 30 - 32k miles. I am unsure of the exact mileage as the last onwer binned the bike at a track day and one of the things that he broke was the speedo. A replacement has been fitted, but it was a KPH item with an MPH face fitted. I have taken the mileage from the last MOT before the replacement and added on another 5000 miles before the KPH unit was used and mileage could be reliably measured again. This never worried because I was never going to sell her again!

The bike has had the airbox drilled, been rechipped and remapped, all by a reputable tuning company. The rear shock was dead, so I have had a custom replacement built by a local suspension comapny. There are also small joining pipes which allow normal end cans to be fitted to the ducati headers. These are currently straight through cans which were also included in the mix when the remapping took place. I have also fitted braided hoses on the front brakes. That is all the non standard items.

All bodywork is original ducati items including the mirror pods (astounding due to the above mentioned track day incident), just ever so slightly scruffy. She still cleans up and looks georgeous though.

What I am left with is a bike that handles like it is on rails, goes like the proverbial bat out of hell and sounds like ducati intended all their bikes to sound like.

I am hoping to get between £1400 and £1600, but am trying to find out how much I can expect to achieve on the second hand market. I have kept an eye on prices for broken bikes, but do not want to even think about going down that road, as that would mean another of these wonderful machines will disappear forever.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

many thanks

£.1400/1600 (€. 2050/2350) could be a fair price, but if you're lucky, you could also get something more.

No matter, I hope you could raise the money in another way.

You should get at least £1500 for your bike. Stick it on e bay with that as the reserve.

PLEASE don't break it up though!
