Gas Tank Removal

Dumb question but cannot find answer in search. When removing the gas tank, the workshop manual says to disconnect the vent hose and the gas hose from the bottom of the tank, thats it. Does the tank have an automatic shut off when the gas line is disconnected as most modern bikes have? Just want to make sure I don't make a mistake and have gas all over the place. Manual does not give any warning so I am assuming the gas will not flow out of the tank when line disconnected. Just wanted to make sure. New owner and don't know a hellva lot about the bike.

isn`t there a fuel petcock on the left rear side ? I don`t own a 907ie but I guess it`s similar to the P750. Also you have to disconnect the connector that goes to the fuel gauge.

Fuel pump is in the tank so apart from pressure in pipe and residue in return you should be okay as long as your haven't got a full tank and keep it level or it will spill into vent if hose is missing internally - check.

it's fairly easy to syphon out though so I would do that but not in an enclosed space while having a smoke(not that I do!!) just to understand the workings inside.

While the tank is off check the electrical connections underneath and the leads to them as these can become frayed and loose/corroded.

You are right, tank has a stop so no gas came out, was very easy. Noticed fuel lines were hard so need to find correct metric (I think) hoses to replace. Duc dealer here does not carry any for 907ie.

I am in Camas, Washington USofA across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon. I visited England in 1996 on a motorhead trip with my buddy. Started at 24 Hours of Le Mans, Porsche factory, Mercedes factory, Goodwood Festival of Speed at Lord March's place in Chichester, Jag factory at Coventry, Warwick Castle, London, etc. 15 days of cars and no wives! Aaah, the memory!

This past May was in Italy (with wife) and visited Ducati, Alfa, Ferrari, Mille Miglia, Stanguletti and Morbidelli. I would share the Morbidelli bike museum pictures with you guys if interested but I don't know how to do that on this site, primitive computer skills. Will stop rambling now.

just to make sure...
the 907 fuel lines run at 3 Bar = about 50+ PSI pressure.
make sure you get the BEST quality fuel line you can that is RATED for EFI use at this pressure.

also make sure the lines are screwed back on TIGHT
they can blow off - and the pump will shut down but will still piss half a litre of fuel onto the exhaust...

final advice is to also change the line INSIDE the tank between the pump and filter.
this line blew on me and was nearly impossible to find the problem.

Laddie is right. Its very easy to burn whole cute Paso 907 with leaking fuel lines, as there is that 3 bar pressure and i have noticed many times, that "its leaking from somwhere" after i have done something to my fuel system. Allways(!!!!) check possible fuel leaks after U have done something to fuel system. Its best to do that BEFORE you put fairings on... If its leaking and engine is in running temp, then leaks are very dangerous...

I changed mine along time ago. I would get the metric size but I would get the reinforced fuel line with the braided reinforcement on the outside. Also I would safety wire the little "C" clips on the fittings atop of the fuel injectors, just in case.
