Now I need to service it. Phoned two Ducati main dealers to get some service parts. Neither could help (no information on the model), and one suggested that it may also be pointless asking Ducati UK for part numbers etc.

One of the dealers had previously supplied parts for the 907, but it now looks like in future I cannot rely on them any more as they now only deal with post 1993 bikes.
Obviously, the only course of action is to go down the independant supplier route. My question is therefore, can you give some recommendations as to who supplies parts reliably (preferably by mail order, and especially cam belts) and who does good service/repair work. I live in East London so most places in the south east/midlands I can access.
I also have an old honda cb900, and for that I just phone David Silver Spares and usually get the parts delivered the next day. Is there an equivalent supplier for Ducati spares who can supply common parts off the shelf?
Thanks
Sean
