New kid on the paso

Post by Antzo »

Hi Guys as of today I am the owner of a 91 rosso 907ie , my first Ducati. I don't know if I am in deep shit, only time will tell. I just saw the ad went to see it, fell in love and bought it.
All afternoon I am googling about Ducati 907 and when I saw this forum I thought I cannot afford not to become a member.

youre right there higgy, per capita I'm sure Aus and I think NZ as well have the most ducatis than anywhere else in the world and this has always been the case, even in the early 70s :truck:
...and another bit of info for our newest member from Greece, Melbourne has the second biggest greek population, second only to Athens (this was the case a few years back)
Cheers Claude.

Welcome here in the best Forum for the Paso´s. I am also new in this Forum and rebuilding a 907ie.
My Paso was in a Garage for 10 jears before i bought it. Without the help of the Forum my Paso have never made it back on the Street.
Enjoy your ride.

Can't understand 'deep shit'.
The Paso are among the less loved Ducati.
But, in this forum, we all have plenty of pride to own one or more Pasos (like me).
I don't know if you are fighting because of some issue on your Paso.
However, you're in the best Ducati forum ever
So, enjoy deeply your Paso and this forum.

as far as the second hand market goes, your bikes are too cheap, making them very attractive for some overseas buyers...another thing is, we missed out on the financial downturn and our dollar is high at the moment. :smoke: cough, cough, cough!...forgot...I dont even smoke
Cheers Claude.

Thank you all for your welcome comments. I have to admit that I am a rookie when it comes to Ducatis. I am mostly into classic cars. I had been on the lookout for a weekend bike with character something classic but also modern in use. I was considering various European bikes, when I saw the ad for the 907ie. It was priced lower than my budget so I did not waist time and went to see it and the rest is history.
Ducati lovers outside this forum will not agree with me but I like her style more than the more sporty models of the same era. I Like the 80s aesthetics which strongly resembles the Ferrari Testarossa lines (Yeahh.. Yeahh... I did picture my self like Don Johnson with baby blue t-shirt and white suit doing willies with my 907    )
Back to earth again:
Today I took her to a Ducati specialist (suggested by a friend who has 3 Dukes among other special bikes) in order to do a full check up and a service in order to create a starting point of maintenance. What amazed me was that although the shop was full of new bikes everyone came out to check out the old lady (so despite the years she still has the design to impress!!!!!)
According to the previous owner and the odometer, the bike spent most of her life in a garage she has only 17000 km and it is one of only two known Pasos at least in the Athens area. The front fairing has been repaired at some point but not good so that is something I will be involved with at some point soon, also he had the smart idea of putting some carbon style stickers in various sections of the dashboard. As a classic car enthusiast I prefer originality so I have already starting pilling this shitty stickers off and my objective will be to keep the bike as stock as possible.

Excellent choice for a classic car guy!!!! The 907 is the best of the Paso series evolution and will be a JOY to own.

Good luck and ride safe.

I'm impressed by the front calipers.
They seem the Brembo racing ones, if I have right seen.
If so, they would cost as half bike...

Or... Are they only gold painted????
