Bike for sale . . . What's it worth?

Post by Rhino »

Quite like/interested in this . . .

What's it really worth . . . yeah we ALL know - it's worth what someone is prepared to pay for it but - what should that be realistically?

I don't know but I think the seller is being a bit optimistic with the asking price.

KTM dealership with a Ducati as a show bike???? Maybe an old part ex that has not been shifted in a few years and is now dead stock on the books so it maybe worth making an offer that is reasonable and at most under two grand............ could be nice in the summer if those tires become available in March though?

Plus if the forecast is right there will be snow in Scotland for the rest of February so there won't be too many bikes riding out of their showroom.

(Still not getting any notifications . . .)

I did phone them and apparently the bike is the personal property of the owner of the dealership and owes him nothing.

I did try to make an offer but was told in no uncertain terms that the price was fixed and would not go down. In addition the bike has been on display at the dealership for several years and has not been run . . ..

It sounds that the dealer must not sell and if for the money he want. Not a good position for a buyer.
I have seen worst bikes for more.
For 1900 would it be for me OK and I would plan to invest the same

I think the standard versions are always going to be a little unloved despite having some beautiful touches to them. A lot of them seem to go on to be the basis for a 'special' it seems. Time of year in UK etc, I think he will struggle to get £1500 let alone another grand on top. There was a 750 near me for sale late last year for around £1200-1500 and it didn't sell. Several 900 versions (albeit not quite as clean as the 750 above) have sold for between £1000 and £1500 over the last two years.

Pic 3, what carbs are they, mikuni? The 92ish paintjob looks well but as non standard worth less to your average buyer. As Giocast says 12-1500 is probably all it'd fetch on ebay and a bike thats been standing for a few years could be a moneypit especially if its been 'restored' by someone who doesn't know the breed.
A 900Supersport 90/91 with 17" wheels and 4pot calipers will be easier to live with and the red/white stripe paint scheme looks good, I nearly bought 1 a couple of times. ps. Has the 750 got the toolkit? :)
