front end? steering? Weird
Took the 907 out for the first time this year with proper air pressure and a bolt tightness check, oil, chain tension and lube and a quick polish. It seems to tip in early and hard and is quite sensitive to steering inputs. Not the rock solid stable long curve tourer that I remember! Could it be that I'm totally out of sync with the bike since my off-season Bevel Scrambler riding? Or is there something amiss in the front end that I need to check?
Thanks
Sheldon

Hmmm. Maybe you are just riding slower than you used to. Try going 20-30 mph faster.

Re: front end? steering? Weird
you did say with proper air pressure...this is typical of under inflated front tyre pressure, check your air pressure gauge...going by memory 34psi front 36psi rear?
Cheers Claude.

Yep, Claude. Those are the numbers I put in. But I'll check the gauge and the pressure again!
Thx.

Hi Sheldon,
how about your steering head bearings. when they are gone, you'll face funny steering also.
put the bike on the centre stand and place someone or something on the rear of the saddle so the front wheel comes of the ground. now you should be able to turn the steer from side to side without strange behavior during the turning.

Next check wheel bearings, then swingarm pivot.

also good ideas. Wheel bearings are good. Swing arm pivot will check. Starting to look like it's a rider issue. I guess I have to go faster!

how are your fork seals? Just wondering if the oil level is ok or if the forks may have leaked oil which could become noticable.
On the other side I rode my 600 Gilera a couple of years ago, came home and got on the Paso instantly. Now a P750 handles a bit different than a 907ie and for a while it felt like driving a tank.

hi Nigel, you are correct, I was way out...blazing928 wrote:

just a few PSI under inflated can make a huge difference in the handling, I remember approx15yrs back both a friends VFR750 and my brothers 907 were nervously tipping early around corners due to low pressure...
Cheers Claude.
