oil drain plug
oil drain plug
What type of gasket/seal is supposed to be on the oil sump drain plug ? the one on my 750 Paso just has a hard steel washer .. is this correct i would have thought that there was a soft copper washer or O ring seal that went on the plug, my bike has always dripped a little oil from what i thought was the joint between the crankcases. i was going to strip the motor to fix this oil leak but if it is just a ( hopefully) simple thing like the wrong seal on the drain plug then i will not have to do so.

Are you sure it is not aluminum? I believe that is what comes on it. I suppose anything would work (except steel); copper, nylon, or aluminum.

Re: oil drain plug
For my 907 (probably 750 is the same) I got the copper crush washers from DesmoTimes.com -- and I fit a new new one every time I drain the oil. US$1 each.
"This high-quality crush washer is superior to the OEM aluminum oil drain plug washer. It is malleable and offers a superior seal compared to the OEM plug washer. Suitable for all Ducatis EXCEPT testastretta motors on the 749/848/998/999/1098."

Re: oil drain plug
It's supposed to be aluminum. They are readily availabale from any dealer for a few bucks. There is also one on the oil screen which is accessed on the swide of the motor.
