new to me 907, weak charging.

Post by dino2000 »

Purchased bike yesterday, installed new battery and went directly to Desmoto in S.F. to have charging system checked. 12.9 volts at idle and 13.2 at 4000 revs. Alternator and reg. rec. cheked o.k.
Where do I start looking for the "weak link" in this system.

BTW, this is the most beautiful moto I have ever had the pleasure to own.
Thanks in Advance, Dino

U have to check ALL connections in ch. system!!!! ESPECIALLY those what are close expansion tank. Near every bike have overheating there caused by dirty and resistance. I mean those 3 wires, what are coming from down(alternator) to up(regulator). Also other connections MUST be out of dirt and rust. That 4000 RPM voltage seems little to low. I think, You have somewhere dirt/bad connection...

Looks just original 92 modell, in good shape, so DONT drop it down and those ch. problems are very normal to ALL Ducati modells from 90s and they only need to fix and find problem places, cause if You loose regulator, its then very easy to loose also much more expensive rotor from inside left cover. THATS why, better find bad connector/connections, before its too late... LUCK to You and to Your nice 907!

Find and clean every ground in the system.

The clean everyting else. The good news is that it's charging!

It looks great but needs the AGIP decals on the side fairing to finish the bike off...
