no airfilter ? Are two different airhorn lengths standard ?
Claude, would that also matter with a temperature sensor ? I could imagine that`s more a problem of pressure sensors but I don`t really now.

The longer one is ST3, the shorter one 996, if i remember correctly where i got it from.

upper "lid" of the opening fits to frame. The frame triangle behind the steering head is used as a part of the airbox this way. (see also pic 1)
Maybe the opening is too large, but we will see.

when I had issues with the FI chip I was seriously thinking in shifting the press sensor away from box but never did, changed chip instead...the 907 has a water temp sensor, but no air temp sensor...(I didnt understand your question G)
I would fit the press sensor in some sort of small open container away from air turbolence, with this major modification there is a bit of trial and error...

Where should the airtemperature-sensor be positioned
I just put mine on a simple L-plate, mounted underside the black plate below dash.I think i'll install it inside the airbox for correct values
You have a newer engine & ECU which are adapted f this position so move it!
I bought these to make a sensor cable:

You get nice rubber sealings so it will be waterproof.
They also have Air sensor f under 20£. Very good to deal w & fast delivery.
Nut for As is 14 x 1.5 which they don`t have, a nuts & bolts specialist will.
At the blue map sensor, you should just loosen the end which goes into the airbox,
this also to get this sensor to work as newer engines has.
Just did these 2 sensor alterations yesterday when logging & mapping my new P8
w 996 SPS software so I know this works.

Looks like a Shindengen reg/rec, could you tell me the white Shi part no stamped on it?
Love this thread, soooo tempted to try ST3......

907 has Air sensor in the airbox....the 907 has a water temp sensor, but no air temp sensor...
Why did you want to move that sensor?when I had issues with the FI chip I was seriously thinking in shifting the press sensor away from box but never did, changed chip instead

There is an airtemp sensor, Claude. check TAV28 #8 of the 907ie parts catalogue. (edit: Gert was faster...the 907 has a water temp sensor, but no air temp sensor...(I didnt understand your question G)

Johannes, what I`m wondering about is if you`re using a long airhorn for the front cylinder and a short one for the rear as that is how it looks. I`d expect both to be the same no matter if you used the shorter or longer type.

The equipment/parts are available. only the position needed.
I think i will position it somewhere near the intake, so the temperaturedifference caused by oil & water cooler to the real intake temperature will be as low as possible.

Yes, thats what i intended to do. Long in front, short in rear. For better torque behaviour, i might have used two longer ones, but the longer does not fit on the rear intake. And two short ones might result in good power output, but low torque at low revs.
So i am trying this. I know it`s a risk because of different overall intake lengths, but the exhaust pipes are not the same lenght as well (rear shorter). I think it`s worth a try... Rear cylinder for power, forward for torque...

I just got an answer from a guy who developes mappings for Porsche & develops different "intake kits" for cars and so on. He advised me to position the sensor directly in the airflow to the intake.

That is maybe correct position in theory, I don`t know.
I meant that your ECU expects Air Temp sensor to be somewhere in front, under fairing,
like on the bike it once where placed on & map software developed for.
Probably no biggie placing it elsewhere, just away fr engine heat.

I just saw the Air s yesterday, on my airbox, just next to blue MAP 3wire sensor.
Brown 2wire connector to it, sorry no pic.

I will have a better look next time...never noticed a temp sensor
Gert youre knowledgeable re FI system...what happens if you disconnect the air press hose and re-positioned elsewhere away from air box...I was contemplating this instead of the cigarette butt trick
