New Paso owner

Great board you all have here. It helped me pull the trigger on buying my 1987 750 limited today. I promise to do a search before asking any questions

As for provenance, I'll have to do some detective work. The guy I bought it from got it 10 years ago from a ducati collector who was getting divorced. She ws built in june of 1987, and might have come from california (pro italia keychain, and front and rear suspension from lindemann engineering which looks like it was done when the bike was pretty new.) The vin is ZDM1DA3N6JB 753581. what's up with the gold rocker covers ? Is that correct?

She-it that's a lovely bike bro. Beautiful. I believe the 87 Pasos had black rocker covers. '88 on got gold rocker covers denoting an improvement/revision to the valve adjustment. Others on the forum can more accurately describe this revision. I have an '87, so I'm no expert so I'll let them explain. Thanks for the pictures and info on the bike!

Thanks ! She's a little more rough than the pictures suggest, but considering there are 30,000 miles on the clock, pretty nice. She's been sitting in a garage for the last 8 years, so there's gonna be some work to get here roadworthy.

I have to dig out Fallon's book to double check but the Rocker covers went on the Limited only in 87 and the rest in 88? Some change was made in the top end I think.... dang I knew all this by heart at one time, it sucks getting old

March of 88 the rocker set up changed.... removable clip and shorter rocker so the pin no longer needed removed when doing valves those with that system got gold anodized rocker covers. I do recall reading somewhere that some dealerships retrofitted this system to older style bikes, whether what I read was true or if it was possible actually I do not know.
According to the chart I'm looking at, everything above 752608 was built as an 88. So Gold anodized rocker covers should be right.....

Congratulations. I like your exhaust.
Bike looks very clean.
You have an earlier serial than I do. 7540** here.

Is that a seam in the seat covering at the front?

that's a Corbin saddle. I've got the original one too. The exhaust is a set of staintune pipes on the stock headpipes.

My 1987 has black valve covers and the older version of the opening rocker design, which makes valve adjustments a real PITFA. I've thought about finding a set of newer rockers with clips the next time I have to adjust the valves....and then paint the valve covers red to confuse people.
