it would really help if everyone would at least add your location in the profile.
Oillevelglass is available from your Duc dealer, same as indicator lenses. Some are always offered on ebay in combination with a reflector.

In the meantime, you can always get your mirror back by visiting any automotive glass shop - they can cut you a mirror, and will probably use the other one to source the proper size. (It think it's a fraction shy of 4" diameter). That's what I did a couple years ago; I think they charged me $5 ... it might not be Ducati's mirror or have the 'objects in mirror sticker' but I can see behind me all the same! ;)

That's correct. Does the stock mirror have a slightly convex profile to it? I think I detect a very slight difference between the two - I guess that would explain it!

It's not the proper or ideal replacement, no, but it was better than going without ...

I`m not sure about that. I was only wondering for a longer time if there isn`t a convex mirror glass replacement from another bike that could fit.

My word, Faster, do you realize what you're saying? Installing a non-Ducati part? What has the world come to?

You can have a piece cut away from a convex mirror. That is what I did. You have to use tape in the back and put the glue on the tape. Do not use the glue on the backing since it will hunt you latter. It is necessary to seal the edge of the glass by some kind of coating to keep the moister out which causes the rust spots.

...or you have to use the special silicon glue for the mirrors.

I replaced my mirror glass with a convex one from an old wrecked 50cc scooter (minarelli 50). It's only 1mm less wide but it fits.
