Finally my Paso is back on the road...

Post by Bluestratos »

Hi all,
I am happy to share with you my Blue Paso that is running and back on the road after a one and a half year mission. I bought this bike for a very reasonable price off a guy in Devonshire England, the engine had been half rebuilt with the heads off and out of the bike. It came with various new bits, new belts spare ignition etc. But most interestingly it had it's swing arm lengthened with new rubber on both front and back. I can hear you all saying "they look terrible, not original" and a part of me agrees, but it was an attractive plus when getting the bike back on the road, as it's tire problem had already been addressed.

After much time spent, the guy's at MD-Racing in the UK managed to sus out the electrical gremlins that were stopping it from sparking. And now thankfully it goes! (Im no good with electrics).

It is running ok, but seems to splutter a bit and pop in the exhausts when it is low in it's rev range. When I give it a squirt, it seems to pull away smoothly. I think this is a carb set up thing, What do you guy's think? Ideally Id like to put some after market carbs on it. Has anyone got a kit for sale?

I am going to have the seat recovered as mine has split with age, also on a ride through Shoreditch last night, the mirror glass on the left hand side fell out and promptly was run over by a following car. Does anyone know of where to get replacement inserts? (the plastic inner was destroyed as well as the glass).

It is by no means mint! but looks ok, annoyingly a chair fell down in the garage where it is being kept and dented the tank a little, which is the only dent on it!

That's about it for now, Im sure I'll be back with a truck load more questions in the future.

Cheers!
Jeff

How does that work ?

That swingarm doesn`t look longer than normal specially looking at the excenter postion.

How does that work ?
as long as there is no crease in the metal, dry ice will shrink it and pop the ding out like it was never there.

Swingarm

Post by JWilliam »

So how was the swingarm lengthened? I see it still has the eccentrics but is now black. I would certainly like to see dry ice pull out that dent, if you get round to it then make a video at the time. The low RPM splutter is fuel pressure I think, get a 0-5psi regulator. Nice bike.

that`s interesting, never heard of that. Unluckily I`ve never seen a place here that sells dry ice. Not even crushed ice that you find everywhere in the US is sold here

usually you can find dry ice at a welding supply
It does not work for every type of ding, mainly small round ones with no creases in the metal

R410?...that will do it, at -50 deg C boiling point (here in Aus there is a $20,000 fine for releasing refrigerant) also you need a license to buy some...but liquid LPG that will give you approx -30 and everybody has some around the house, just do it outdoors and away from naked flames
Cheers Claude.

Any freon/natural gas products would be bad for the environment, obviously you do not have the required license
Besides, liquid nitrogen is cheaper...as cheap as it gets and does not hurt the environment. Even dry ice has a detrimental effect on the ozone layer :fart: :fart: :fart: Which is why you can't buy it at your local supermarket anymore :smoke: It is easier to store than liquid nitrogen.
